A Partial Knee Replacement (PKR) is a surgical procedure that is performed when there is damage that is confined to a knee compartment. During partial knee replacement, only the damaged part of the knee is replaced with a prosthesis.

The procedure is recommended for individuals with knee arthritis, and is done under either general anaesthesia or regional anaesthesia. After the procedure, it is recommended to start moving your knee as soon as possible as this helps with the recovery. The knee will then be mobilized for about two to four weeks after surgery and you’ll likely be discharged in a day or two. Physical therapy will be recommended during the recovery period.
